Thirty-three-year-old Joshua King of the 700 block of East Chambers was arrested in the 500 block of Brooklyn at around 6 p.m. for aggravated participation in methamphetamine manufacturing, possession of meth-manufacturing material and criminal trespass to land.

Jacksonville Police Lieutenant Chris Johnson says King is alleged to have entered an abandoned trailer on Brooklyn Avenue for the purpose of cooking meth. He says authorities found materials in storage that could have been used to produce meth.

Meanwhile, in an adjacent residence where King’s pregnant wife, a child and an elderly woman all were residing, Johnson says there were chemicals hidden that could have been accessed for further use of meth manufacturing.

He says the Illinois State Police Meth Response Team was called in, and between 400 and 900 grams of unfinished product was seized.

Johnson says the aggravated nature of the arrest stems from the child being present in the one trailer.

King remains in custody.
