Nineteen-year-old Thomas Burton of the 400 block of North Church pleaded guilty to aggravated battery charges this morning in Morgan County Court.
Burton was arrested August 1st after police responded at around 7:15 to a disturbance at 141 East Independence. Police say a man living there had been stabbed by someone known to him. Burton was apparently sitting on the front porch of the residence and taken into custody without incident.
The victim was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.
Burton was sentenced to 90 days in jail and also ordered to serve two years of probation and was fined $985.
