A Jacksonville High School freshman took home three powerlifting records during a national competition earlier this month.

Michael McNulty talks about the records he broke during his impressive International Powerlifting Federation debut in Chicago.

“I broke the world record in squat for the 165 pound weight class with 413 pounds. I broke the world record in deadlift with 446 pounds and the total record of 447 kilos, which is 1,047 pounds,” says McNulty.

McNulty was proud of the results he accomplished against powerlifters from 46 different countries.

“Well that is what I trained for and it felt really great the hard work pays off.”

McNulty says he just started his serious weight training program and hopes to make a career out of it. He plans to attend the world competition in LA in the near future.
