Jacksonville School District 117 announced the hiring of a third assistant principal at Thursday’s special meeting.

Barbie Davidsmeyer has been the Director of Special Education in Rushville at Schuyler Industry School District Five for the past four years.

Prior to that role, the Franklin native and current Jacksonville resident, taught special education in Cahokia.

Superintendent Steve Ptacek says Davidsmeyer will be a “tremendous asset” to the school system, which includes fellow JHS assistant principals Tim Chipman and Joey Dion.

“She is going to bring a tremendous amount of knowledge and leadership to an incredibly important position in the high school. All of the assistant principals and principal will deal with needs as they come. Mr. Chipman’s role will remain predominately working with staff and curriculum issues. Mr. Dion’s role is athletic director and assistant principal. Davidsmeyer’s role will be to work with building leadership with Mr. McGiles to create that academic atmosphere we need in the school,” says Ptacek.

Davidsmeyer will be taking over the role previously held by Jill Dillard, who was assigned earlier this summer to the principal position at Crossroads Learning Center.
