Jacksonville High School’s postseason success is influencing an extra shade of crimson around the city.

Amy Albers with the Jacksonville High School Alumni Association says the “Paint The Town Red” initiative hit social media following wins from both the soccer and volleyball teams.

“I just hope everybody can drive by Morton, or downtown or past a business and see they are supporting our Crimsons. The crowd last night at the soccer game was just incredible. I bet we doubled what Springfield had and the game was in Springfield. It is things like this our community is so great at rallying behind. I hope they continue it with painting the town red.”

The JHS volleyball team plays Thursday against Taylorville at the Mt. Zion Sectional Final. WEAI 107.1 will have the live broadcast with pregame starting at 5:40.

As for the soccer team, the Crimsons will play two games at the IHSA State Finals on Friday and Saturday.
