A pair of high schools in Jacksonville are celebrating homecoming this week.

Jacksonville High School will kick off homecoming week Friday with a parade at 4 p.m. The parade route will start at Duncan Park and head east towards downtown on State Street.

The Jacksonville Crimsons will take on Decatur MacArthur at home Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on WEAI 107.1 FM.

An alumni tent will be available for JHS graduates during the football game. The tent opens at 6 p.m.

The festivities at Routt Catholic High School start Thursday with a “Blackout Day.” The school day will feature a homecoming mass, followed by various competitions between classes.

Coronation of the Routt king and queen will take place at 1:15 p.m. on Friday at the Routt Dome. Following the ceremony, students will showcase their class floats during the annual Routt Parade.

The theme this year is “Tropical Delight” and will include support from Passavant Area Hospital, Our Saviour School and the Jr. Irish football team.

The Routt football team will take the field Friday night against Mendon Unity. The game will be played at Illinois College’s England Field and will be featured as the second game of our broadcast doubleheader on WEAI.

The Routt homecoming dance will run from 8-11 p.m. Saturday night.
