A former local state representative is announcing her candidacy for the 47th State Senate District.

Jil Tracy, a Republican who ran on a ticket for lieutenant governor with Kirk Dillard when he recently ran for governor, made that announcement Monday morning in Quincy, according to KHQA-TV.

Tracy was a member of the Illinois House who represented the 93rd District, and then the 94th District after redistricting from 2006 to 2015. She represented Cass and Scott Counties.

The 47th Senate District is currently occupied by Democrat John Sullivan, who has announced he is stepping down after his current term.

The Republican primary election is next March 15th.
