Unemployment numbers for the counties of West Central Illinois showed a variety of changes this past month.
Over the year numbers for Morgan County remained the same at 5.5 percent, while Scott County dropped from 6.0 percent to 5.8 percent.
Greene County reported a rise in unemployment from 6.1 percent last year to 6.9 percent in 2015 and Cass County jumped from 6.1 percent to 6.5 percent.
Ron Payne says Illinois improved the job market this year by adding almost 200 jobs in the four-county-area.
“We were up 100 jobs in wholesale, professional business services and education health care were up around 75 over the year. Government was down 150 along with the the leisure and hospitality sector.”
Payne says if employers continue to show confidence in the economy, then employment number will improve in 2016.
