The Jacksonville Police Department is taking back unwanted prescription drugs on Saturday.
The JPD and Drug Enforcement Administration will sponsor another National Take Back Initiative from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jacksonville Municipal Building.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.
According to a press release from the JPD, this initiative addresses a vital public safety and health issue. Medicines left in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse.
Americans are advised that their usual methods of flushing prescription drugs down the toilet or throwing them away poses potential safety and health hazards.
More information about the initiative can be directed to the JPD.
