Jacksonville may move forward with a police training complex and shooting range during tonight’s City Council meeting.

A resolution for a contract for engineering services with Hutchison Engineering to complete the shooting range, which has become a controversial topic again over the course of the last several aldermanic get-togethers, is on the agenda for tonight’s meeting.

The Public Protection Committee recommended bringing the engineering agreement back to the full council last week.

Other action items include the second reading of an ordinance approving the ground lease for the Jacksonville Symphony Hall and Performing Arts Center

The mayor’s report includes the topics of semi-truck traffic in downtown Jacksonville and new initiatives through Mediacom.

Aldermen are also scheduled to vote on an amendment to the agreement with Northwater Consulting Group, the company handling the Lake Mauvaisterre Watershed Project. An upcoming Town Brook cleanup update and semi-annual Revolving Loan Fund report are also on the agenda.

Things get underway at 6 p.m. with the workshop session in the Jacksonville Municipal Building.
