Congressman Darin LaHood has been selected to serve as co-chair of the U.S. – China Working Group.
Alongside Congressmen Rick Larsen, LaHood will lead the bi-partisan group seeking to build and strengthen diplomatic relations between the countries.
In a press release, LaHood stated, “China is one of our most prominent trade partners, and is especially significant for industry here in Central Illinois.”
Caterpillar, one of Central Illinois’ largest businesses, has operated in China for the past 40 years.
LaHood will work closely with the State Department, congressional leadership, the academic community and key business leaders.
The U.S. – China Working Group was founded in 2005.
