A fire did major damage to a Waverly house this morning, and the fire chief says it’s suspicious.
It happened at 503 Miller Street in Waverly at a house owned by Margarite Rose, according to fire chief Glen Brown. Firefighters were paged out shortly before 4 a-m and found a deck on the backside of the house on fire. Brown says the flames got into the doors and siding of the porch area.
Brown says no one was home when the fire happened. He says crews from Waverly and Franklin were able to put it out within a half hour.
Nearly 30,000 dollars of damage was reportedly caused. There was smoke damage throughout the entire home.
Brown says the State Fire Marshal is being called in to investigate.
