Local Congressman sounds off on FBI Clinton update

West Central Illinois Congressman Rodney Davis is offering his thoughts on the ending of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email use.

Davis tells our reporting partners at WICS ABC Newschannel 20 he’s not surprised by the news, but that the outcome is a disappointment to many Americans.

“What troubles me the most is the gross negligence that Director Comey alluded to. I’m not going to say I have all the information that would require an indictment. I’m going to leave that up to the professionals. However, I do think most people like me believe that there was never going to be an indictment with this administration and with the presumptive Democratic nominee and that presumption came true today,” says Davis.

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin says he agrees with the FBI that Clinton didn’t have intent to release classified information. He calls the FBI’s description of Clinton’s possible compromise of classified information, which was described as “careless”, an honest assessment of what happened.
