A Jacksonville printing company has snagged a national publication.

Production Press Inc. will print out the monthly “National Speed Sport News” magazine at its 307 East Morgan facility. According to the publication’s website, it’s often described as “the Bible of motorsports” and has been in existence since 1934.

Brad Racey, the co-owner and general manager of Production Press, says it’ll be a monthly publication. National Speed Sport News had previously run as a newspaper.

“It actually fits our capabilities, it’s right up our alley. We’ve been working on this for almost a year now, and it is actually very prestigous for us. A lot of people don’t know Production Press, we’re sitting right here in the middle of Jacksonville. We do a lot of work very similar to this, and this is definitely one of our prouder pieces that we are really excited about. It’s kind of one of our first real national exposures for us. Speed Sport is truly a professional magazine, it is top class.” Racey said.

The Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting for magazine managing partner Vernon Massey on Thursday at Production Press. The very-first local printing of National Speed Sport News edition was given to him.

“Mister Massey, we actually, many years ago, we had a local dirt racer that our logos, we actually sponsored. It’s kind of funny, that’s how we knew each other. My Father and Vern sponsored the same race car 25 years ago. They just kind of struck up a relationship and then Vern, obviously, became a major partner of this magazine. He started thinking, ‘What can Jacksonville do’, and here we are, Production Press, we started talking again, it’s just kind of a neat collaboration.” Racey elaborated.

The publication isn’t available on most magazine stands, but Racey says it will be for sale at the Jacksonville Speedway.
