Local veterans selected for Land of Lincoln Honor Flight

Several local veterans are participating in the upcoming Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.

The first flight of the 2016 season marks the 37th overall trip to Washington D.C., which honors veterans from World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

The five veterans from Carrollton, known as the “Band of Brothers from Carrollton” include Larry Angle, Richard “Dick” Midkiff, Ronnie “Ron” Stuart, Gene Todd and Robert Walker.

Jacksonville’s John McCorkle and Murrayville’s John DeOrnellas, who served during the Vietnam War, will be making the trip as well.

Veterans from Petersburg going on the Land of Lincoln Flight include Steven “Steve” Marcy and Robert “Bob” TeRonde, who served during the Vietnam War, and Robert Nicholas and Harold Stier, who served in both Vietnam and Korea.

Other veterans include Dale Cox from Virginia and Floyd “Dan” Howard of White Hall, who served in Vietnam.

The April 19th flight includes a visit to the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Pentagon, Arlington Cemetery and much more.
