Lynnville Christian Church has announced that construction plans for a new sanctuary and fellowship hall will start next month.

Pastor Frank Hungerford says the process of building a new church started about six years ago after structural problems started mounting up at the current facility.

“With no steps and it being totally handicap inaccessible, we think it will significantly draw from the current members of our congregation and be inviting to others.”

Hungerford estimates that construction on the 40×80 foot church, located just off the public square in Lynnville, will be finished by the summer of 2016.

“We’ve been accumulating some resources and moving forward. We might be a year ahead of our projected scheduled to start construction. All the factors came together to start construction now.”

According to Hungerford, the church is already receiving a tremendous amount of support with the project.

“We will be having volunteers coming in from the Illinois and Wisconsin Region of Disciple Churches. We also welcome anyone else who would like to volunteer time. A framing group that heard about us from the St. Louis area is planning on helping us with the sub-floors.”

Hungerford says the church has budgeted around $100-thousand for the construction process.

Around 85 members of the community attend Lynnville Christian Church.
