MacMurray “Rooted in Tradition” for Homecoming

Homecoming festivities kick off for MacMurray College tomorrow.

The theme for 2015, “Rooted in Tradition,” stems from the 100th birthday celebration of the iconic magnolia tree at the corner of State and Clay Streets.

Known as Maggie, the tree will be recognized on Saturday after the annual homecoming parade at 10 a.m.

According to a MacMurray press release, the parade marshals this year are members of the Zellmann family, which had family members at the MacMurray campus from 1976-1989.

The MacMurray football team will host the University of Northwestern Minnesota at Freesen Field on Saturday. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. and can be heard live on WEAI 107.1 FM.

Also featured on Saturday will be the Michaelson Monster 5K Run/Walk beginning at 8 a.m.

The Holy Fools clown ministry return to campus on Sunday for a 40th reunion service at Annie Merner Chapel.
