At their meeting last Wednesday, the board passed a resolution to hire Thad Walker, the grade school principal at Winchester School District. Walker has served in that capacity since 2009. Prior to that, he was the principal at Lafayette Academy in Jacksonville for a year and a special education teacher in Winchester for nearly a decade.

Walker will remain in his present role at Winchester as principal until the end of the 2015-2016 school year.

Walker holds a bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Monmouth college as well as a master’s degree from Quincy University. He’s in the process of completing his superintendent specialist’s degree from Eastern Illinois University and will graduate in the spring of 2016.

Walker is replacing Ron Gilbert, who recently accepted a superintendent position in the Beardstown School District.
