The Jacksonville Area Association of Realtors is announcing a merger that aims to better serve the consumers of West Central Illinois.
Both the Capital Area Realtors and Jacksonville Area Association of Realtors voted unanimously last week to approve the merger.
The merger will impact 12 counties in West Central Illinois, including the entire four-county-area of Morgan, Cass, Scott and Greene Counties.
Bob Chipman, president of the Jacksonville Area Association of Realtors, breaks down the merger.
“For the past ten years, we have shared technological services. This seemed like a natural step to merge our two associations and to provide better services for our consumers and our member realtors,” says Chipman.
Chipman will be joining the Capital Area Realtors’ Board of Directors after the merger becomes final.
According to a press release, the combined organization will have 650 members and 750 Multiple Listing Service subscribers.
Capital Area Realtor members participate in about 5,000 residential real estate transactions every year, with an approximate value of $500 million.
The merger must still receive formal approval from the National Association of Realtors, but hopes to become effective on June 1st.
