Morgan County 911 is looking for 13 passionate individuals to join the West Central Dispatch Center.

ESDA Director Phil McCarty says the new dispatch center, located in the Jacksonville Municipal Building, is “coming right along.”

“It will look 100 percent different 30 days from now. A lot of the technical work is going to be done in October and November. They will be putting in computers and stuff like that,” says McCarty.

McCarty says full and part-time positions are available. Candidates must first complete a qualification test, involving typing and auxiliary skills.

“They will be handling emergency calls and dispatching them out to law enforcement. They will answer emergency 911 calls and regular seven digit calls for service. It will be a broad range of interaction with the public and first responders,” says McCarty.

An application is available on the City of Jacksonville website.

The dispatch center will be operational by December.
