Campaign financing will be the focus of tonight’s Morgan County League of Women Voters meeting.

Representative Roberta Randorph appeared on “AM-Conversation” this morning to talk about the event taking place at the Jacksonville Public Library.

Randorph says the League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization and works to influence women through education and advocacy.

“We are going to have a power point presentation and distribute a handout that includes 35 questions. These will review democratic values, first amendment protection rights and methods for regulating campaign financing. We will then have our president forward them to the national organization, which will create a position so we can work to advocate.”

Randorph says this meeting, which is open to the public, is not intended to sway individuals in any way.

“We want to look at this with some research and study. Our main purpose is to keep voters involved. We think there are some loopholes since corporations and labor unions can donate as if they were an individual.”

The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
