A procession of side-by-side vehicles, and motorbikes drove down Spradlin Road this morning to pay tribute to a Jacksonville murder victim.

Thirty-six-year-old Andy Maul was shot in the parking lot of the Jacksonville Police Department on Friday. The suspect is Maul’s father-in-law, 61-year-old Robert Gill.

Maul’s funeral was held this morning at Buchanan and Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Following the funeral, the procession passed Maul Tech ATV in rural Jacksonville. Dozens of riders on the side-by-sides, or UTVs, dropped bouquets of flowers at the entrance to the business before moving on.

Adam Tayeh, a close friend of Maul, talked to our reporting partners at WICS ABC Newschannel 20 Tuesday evening.

“There’s not enough words to describe Andy Maul. He was just a great guy, all the way around. He was a great husband, great father, great  son and great friend. He had a birthday coming up. He was going to be 37. We had plans and talked about it,” he says.

Friends say Maul was an extraordinary dad to his two daughters, and was passionate about ATVs. In addition to owning the ATV business, he was also a farmer.
