Passavant earns recognition for patient care

Passavant Area Hospital is being recognized for reducing the amount of patient harm and re-admissions.

As part of the national Partnership for Patients campaign, the Illinois Hospital Association has partnered with the American Hospital Association and the Health Research and Educational Trust.

The groups reduced patient harm in hospital settings by 40 percent and hospital re-admissions by 20 percent in 2013.

Passavant is in the top 10 percent of IHA hospitals, having achieved success in seven of the ten core categories. Passavant received training and education in the following target categories:

-adverse drug events

-injuries from fall and immobility

-obstetrical adverse events

-pressure ulcers

-central line blood stream infection

-vascular adhesion protein

-venous thromboembolism

-preventable readmission

-catheter-associated urinary tract infection

-surgical site infection
