Passavant Area Hospital is looking to add a new component to its facility.
The hospital recently submitted a Certificate of Need to the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board for consideration of a ten-bed Inpatient Psychiatric Unit.
CEO Doug Rahn told the Jacksonville newspaper the unit would be a $3.5 million project. In a statement emailed to WLDS-WEAI News, he said, “Our market studies indicate a significant need for inpatient psychiatric care, and our submission to the Review Board is based on that need.”
The Review Board will meet in late January to consider the application.
Rahn notes the hospital currently has a full-time child and adult psychiatrist at the hospital’s Center for Psychiatric Health. A second full-time psychiatrist is scheduled to begin next July.
