Body cameras have reportedly been approved for one police department in West Central Illinois.
The Jacksonville Journal-Courier reports Meredosia village president Jim Rausch broke the tie on a vote during a board meeting this week. Board members Kenny Scott, Darold VanHyning nad John Rentz voted against the purchase of cameras, while Miranda Liehr, David Werries and Dan Floyd voted in favor.
The city paper reports the village will buy two body cameras and additional equipment for just over $2-thousand. Meredosia is not eligible for grants because of the small size of its police department, meaning the village will have to pick up the cost for the purchase.
