Preparations are underway for the biggest party in Roodhouse’s 150 year history.
Roodhouse is scheduled to host a Sesquicentennial Celebration from August 4-7 for West Central Illinois residents to enjoy.
An executive committee was formed several months ago, with the goal of raising as much revenue as possible to support the event. Committee member Nicolet Ozirsky lists the confirmed events taking place at the Sesquicentennial Celebration.
“We are supposed to be having a pageant, beard contest and tentative bands have been lined up. We are hoping to have a carnival, a quilt show, crafts and vendors and the square and a Kids Day.”
Ozirsky says this is an important milestone for the city.
“I think it will bring the community together to show support. There is a lot of history to be reminiscing. It will king of bring back the days of fun, support and camaraderie.”
Ozirsky says more details about the celebration will be released in the coming months. Donations can be sent to the Roodhouse City Hall at 137 West Palm Street.
