A Greene County man is facing fraud charges from the state.

According to documents filed in Greene County Court last month, 65-year-old Alfred Holder of Roodhouse is charged with vendor fraud, making a false statement in excess of $10,000, theft by deception between $10,000 and $100,000, and theft of state funds between those totals.

The Illinois Attorney General is handling the investigation.

Holder turned himself into the Greene County Jail Wednesday afternoon.

The charges indicate between September of 2014 and November of last year, Holder caused false Illinois Department of Human Services time sheets to be submitted to the state for payment, and based on those falsified statements, the state’s healthcare and family services department authorized a woman from Roodhouse, Misty Atwood, to receive money to which she was not entitled.

Atwood was arrested in March for allegedly manipulating paperwork and not providing healthcare assistance service. She’s accused of bilking the state for nearly $28,000.
