A Springfield man will spend two decades in prison for a fatal shooting of a Jacksonville man in 2011.

Thirty-seven-year-old Marcus Johnson was sentenced yesterday to 20 years behind bars for killing Albie Underwood and seriously wounding another man.

The 34-year-old Underwood was shot at a home during a party on Springfield’s east side in December 2011.

Johnson will serve a minimum of half the prison term and get credit for three-and-a-half years he served in the Sangamon County Jail as he awaited trial.

Correction: We incorrectly stated the murder victim, Albie Underwood of Jacksonville, was a student at Illinois College. Another man involved in the incident, Joseph “Dink” Simmons, was the IC student.
