Dick Samples, who runs the code enforcement department for South Jacksonville, confirmed with WLDS/WEAI News that he ended his employment last week with the village.

Samples noted that he is leaving his job with South Jacksonville for personal reasons.

According to Village President Gordon Jumper, the South Jacksonville board of trustees will vote to officially accept the resignation of Samples during their monthly meeting on October 3.

The village will be advertising for the code enforcement position shortly and hopes to have the vacancy filled within a three month period.

Samples was suspended without pay for a two-and-a-half day period last month for violating the village’s personnel policy manual.
