South Jacksonville trustees are prepared to appoint the members of an ethics commission during tonight’s meeting.

During a special meeting last week, trustees agreed to consult with newly hired legal counsel Brown, Hay & Stephens before making any decisions on who should be selected to the commission.

The commission is being formed in response to a petition signed by hundreds of South Jacksonville residents a month ago, which called for Village President Gordon Jumper, office manager and Treasurer Linda Douglass and Police Chief Richard Evans to step down from their positions.

All three have announced their retirement or resignation.

Other items on the agenda include the approval of contracts for the Concert in the Cornfield.

Trustees will vote on contracts for the sound equipment and opening act.

The annual concert is scheduled to take place September 12th.
