South Jacksonville trustees held an open discussion on Thursday to consider assigning an additional Freedom of Information Act Officer to the village.

South Jacksonville currently has two FOIA officers. Dani Glascock handles the administrative issues and Jennifer Wilson focuses more on law enforcement.

Village President Steve Waltrip explains why South Jacksonville will be in need of another FOIA officer.

“Jennifer is going to have to take a leave of absence, because she is expecting the birth of her first child. We wanted to have another person in place to fill in for the police department and answer any FOIA requests,” says Waltrip.

One of the names mentioned for the FOIA officer position was Water and Sewer Clerk Kathy Culpepper, who works at village hall on a daily basis.

Waltrip says a vote to determine the third FOIA officer could take place at the October meeting.
