State Street Property Group President Michael Hayes will serve as owner and managing broker of Grojean Realty.

WLDS-WEAI News spoke with Hayes and Grojean President Charlie Grojean this morning and both agreed the deal that closed on Monday was a great move for both companies.

Grojean Realty has ties to Jacksonville dating back to 1947. Charlie Grojean feels this move is a natural progression for the company.

“We’ve been part of all the subdivisions in Jacksonville as they have been developed. Mr. Hayes is going to start a new development and build homes. We are excited to be part of that. What we have sold is the real estate portion of the company. We have not sold the insurance agency. We will continue to run that. My son is involved in that,” says Grojean.

“I will remain as a licensed real estate broker for Mike Hayes and the company, which will remain Grojean Realty and at the current location at 360 West State Street.”

Hayes, who is a licensed broker in Florida and North Carolina, is in the process of developing a parcel of land that includes the Jacksonville Country Club, Oak Apartments and Pleasant View Mobile Home Park. Hayes says those 80 potential lots will be added to the 500 residential units in Jacksonville already run by State Street Property Group.

“We have what looks to be 20 to 25 percent of the market. It is a good size presence for us. It was appealing for me to hit the ground running like this. They have six agents over there, plus myself. They have a great team over there. We are looking forward to moving this thing forward,” says Hayes.

State Street Property Group runs operations at 211 West State Street.
