A Carrollton native is stepping in as the next principal for Winchester Elementary.

Andy Stumpf was selected by the Winchester School Board to replace Thad Walker, who is taking the superintendent job at Meredosia-Chambersberg after seven years at Winchester.

Winchester Superintendent Dave Roberts tells WLDS/WEAI News that secretaries and teachers from the Winchester School District compiled 21 applicants for the grade school position.

Stumpf, a Monmouth College graduate, was the Brussels Junior High principal for two years and has teaching experience in the Carrollton School District.

Roberts says Stumpf will fit in nicely with the district because he is “a leader, has a very approachable style and is a positive person.”
