About 775 residences in Cass County experienced power outages this afternoon.

According to officials from Menard Electric Cooperative, residents from Petersburg and Virginia experienced power failure after several electrical substations went down at around 1:15 p.m.

Officials say both electrical substations were fed from the Ameren Illinois transmission, which also went down.

Menard Electric Cooperative reports that power should have returned to customers at around 2 p.m.

According to Ameren Illinois, Ashland and the eastern part of Cass County are still suffering from power outages.
