Suspension handed down to South Jax Village employee

South Jacksonville board of trustee members met last night to determine if disciplinary actions should be made regarding an employee of the village.

The issue was discussed for nearly 45 minutes in closed session before coming to the decision.

Ultimately, the board voted unanimously to authorize village president Gordon Jumper to suspend the unnamed employee without pay. The length of the suspension will be determined at a later date.

Jumper was unable to comment on why the suspension was being handed down. He wouldn’t say if it had anything to do with an ongoing investigation by the Illinois State Police into allegations of document destruction in the office of the village.

Mike Elliot was not present at the village meeting.
