A 17-year-old Jacksonville boy is facing two charges of aggaravated battery and one count of resisting a peace officer after an overnight incident.

Following a report of a disturbance, Morgan County Sheriff Randy Duvendack says the juvenile was arrested for consumption of alcohol at a property on Literberry-Prentice Road shortly before midnight. He says the boy’s parents wanted a deputy to take him to Passavant Area Hospital for evaluation.

Duvendack says the boy became unruly. At some point, Passavant officials apparently indicated they no longer wanted him at the hospital. Soon after, the boy apparently struck the arresting deputy and a hospital staff member.

No one was injured, according to Duvendack. He says the boy is now at the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center.
