A musical group from the hit movie Pitch Perfect 2 is performing at Illinois College on Friday.

The Filharmonic got their break on NBC’s musical competition show “The Sing-Off” and have recently shared the stage with headline artists like Linkin Park, Black Eyed Peas and Pentatonix.

Illinois College Assistant Director of Student Activities Ashley Childs says the Student Activities Board attends the National Association of Campus Activities each year to find new and entertaining acts touring on college campuses.

Illinois College worked with Degy Entertainment to bring the Filharmonics to campus and Melissa Solorio, Illinois College’s Music and Dance Chair, expects a big crowd.

“We are definitely expecting a diverse group of students. We personally invited the music groups on campus. We are hoping the Jacksonville community comes out and enjoys the performance. Overall we are hoping for an upbeat atmosphere,” says Solorio.

Childs says the event has been moved to Rammelkamp Chapel to comfortably fit a bigger crowd.

Doors open at 7:30 and the free performance starts at 8 p.m.
