A trial date is set for a 20-year-old Jacksonville man accused of murder.

The case of Avery Berry was called for a pretrial telephone conference on Wednesday. According to court records, Assistant State’s Attorney Chad Turner, Berry and his attorney Bruce Locher, took part.

The case was continued to January 13th for motion hearings and a pretrial conference scheduled for March 7th. A jury trial is set for March 8th. Records indicate the state will provide additional discovery evidence.

Berry is accused of shooting 24-year-old Marcus Jackson in October 2014 at a party at the corner of Douglas and Fayette in Jacksonville, just down the street from the Jacksonville Police Department.
