Turner school name survey now up

A survey asking people what they think the colors and mascot of Turner Jr. High School should be is now available.

WLDS-WEAI News was the first to report last week that Jacksonville School District Superintendent Steve Ptacek has been approached by members of the community who would like to see Turner’s school colors and mascot match those of Jacksonville High School.

Changes wouldn’t be implemented until a $24-million renovation project takes place, which is expected to be completed by the fall of 2017.

The survey, which is available on www.vision117.com and the District 117 Facebook page, asks users if the current green-white Turner Titans scheme should remain, or if the school should switch to red and white and change the nickname to Crimsons or Jr. Crimsons.

In addition, school officials are asking if the school should be called Johnathan Turner Middle School or Jacksonville Middle School.
