Cass County investigators say a 48-year-old man allegedly pointed a gun at a homeowner’s son during a burglary Saturday night in Virginia.

According to our reporting partners at WICS ABC Newschannel 20, deputies say Mark Neff and Shelia Beavers allegedly broke into a home on Cox Lane near Route 78.

The homeowner said she was across the street when she saw the two going into her home. That’s when she called her son to see what was going on. Investigators said that’s when the son saw Neff and Beavers. Allegedly Neff pulled a gun on him.

The two suspects left the home, drove away and headed to Havana. The son followed them and deputies picked up pursuit. Channel 20 reporters spoke with Cass County Sheriff’s Department Captain Devron Ohrn.

“Deputies meet the vehicle on route 78. The vehicle was heading southbound. When they approached the vehicle it pulled a U-turn and continue north on 78….and in Havana that’s where he abandoned the truck and he took running on foot,” says Ohrn.

Mason County investigators said Beavers stayed in the truck, but that it took about an hour and a half to find Neff. The two are being held in Mason County Jail, awaiting burglary charges in Cass County. Neff is also facing charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding officers in both counties.
