Update on yesterday’s explosion in Waverly

WLDS-WEAI news has received an update regarding the explosion that occurred at a residential house in Waverly yesterday morning.

According to a press release from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, the cause of the explosion that occurred at 185 West Prairie Street is still undetermined. Deputies believe the explosion was accidental in nature.

No additional explosive devices were found in the residence, though several items were taken from the residence to help determine the cause of the explosion. Those items are currently in the possession of the Illinois Fire Marshal’s Office for testing.

It has been determined that 48-year old Michael T. Skrele is the owner of the residence at 185 West Prairie Street in Waverly. According to reports, Skrele was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, where he is currently listed in critical condition.
