USDA releases 2015 soybean, corn numbers

Recently released numbers by the United States Department of Agriculture break down work done by farmers in West Central Illinois from 2015.

As a state, Illinois farmers harvested over 11-million acres of corn, which produced 2,012,500,000 bushels.

Illinois corn estimates show Morgan County farmers harvested 144,100 of the 145,000 planted. Production totaled 25,930,000 bushels.

Greene County farmers harvested 115,400 of the 117,500 acres planted. The county totaled 17,366,000 bushels of production.

Cass County farmers harvested 99,100 of the 100,000 acres planted, resulting in 18,053,000 bushels.

Scott County farmers harvested the majority of the 51,500 acres dedicated to the corn crop. Production totaled 7,626,000 bushels.

When it comes to soybean numbers, Morgan County farmers harvested 108,300 acres of farmland to produce 10,231,000 bushels.

Greene County farmers harvested just over 91,000 acres, resulting in 5,116,000 bushels.

Cass County farmers produced 3,421,000 bushels from over 50,000 acres of farmland.

Of the 43,600 acres harvested by Scott County soybean farmers, more than 2,200,000 bushels were produced.

Illinois farmers produced 533,320,000 bushels of soybeans from nearly 10,000,000 acres of farmland.
