The Virginia Junior Senior High School is set to showcase a concert in the newly remodeled gymnasium tomorrow; nearly five months after a storm blew a portion of the roof off and caused extensive damage.
Virginia Superintendent Brent O’Daniell says he is thrilled to have construction completed and for the gym to be up and running.
“It’s gorgeous and we are really excited to show it off to the public. Considering all the hoops we had to jump through, as we moved through the process, everybody was really cooperative,” says O’Daniell.
O’Daniell says the speedy repair of the gymnasium was truly a team effort.
“I can’t say enough about the people that worked on the project and supported it. The community showed up in force and supported the process of getting this done,” says O’Daniell.
The timing of the annual holiday concert was pushed back due to construction at the school. O’Daniell says this event will be the grand reopening of the gym.
“It’s an elementary school concert and kindergarten through fifth grade students will be performing, singing and doing skits,” says O’Daniell.
“There is no charge and it is free and open to the public. Just show up, come in, have a seat and enjoy the evening.”
The concert begins at 6:30 p.m.
The action at the new Virginia gym doesn’t stop there though. The school has been picked to host the eighth grade boy’s regional, which begins on January 31st.
