Garage sale enthusiasts will be flocking to a 35 mile stretch along Route 111 in June.

Residents of Medora, Summerville, Chesterfield, Hettick, Palmyra, Modesto and Waverly, looking to get rid of unwanted possessions, will be involved in the 2nd annual Vern’s Highway 111 Garage Sale.

Carol Rose, one of the creators of the event, says each participating location is asked to contribute $5 to cover advertising costs. Local vendors are also encouraged to partake in the garage sale.

“Last year there were hundreds of people that came through. I heard they came as far as St. Louis. The more the better,” says Rose.

Rose notes that leftover money from advertising will be donated to The Autism Support Connection of Hillsboro.

“The movie theater over at Hillsboro, once a month, does a sensory friendly movie. They don’t make it as dark and loud. The kids can get up and move around. The entire family can go in the show, get a popcorn and soda and watch the movie,” says Rose.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 3rd and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 4th.

You must register before May 25th to enter. To find out more check out the VERNS HWY 111 35 MILE YARD SALE Facebook page.
