Will the Illinois River levee hold in Meredosia?

That’s the question and concern from residents as the river reaches its crest today, in major flood stage, just shy of a new record level.

Meredosia Prepares for River Crest, Concern Over Levee

     The Illinois River at Meredosia is at 28.2 feet. The record, set last year, was 28.8 feet. The river is expected to remain in major flood stage as levels decrease through next week.
