The Winchester Post Office lease agreement saga has finally come to an end.

A ten-year lease deal between the post office and Marty Wittee, the owner of the building, was reached on May 27th, according to Village Mayor Rex McIntire.

After six months of negotiations and several threats of losing the post office, McIntire says it feels good to put the issue to rest.

“At the commencement of our seniors on Friday night, I announced we got word for the post service that an agreement had been signed. The crowd cheered, which I knew would be received very well,” says McIntire.

The post office, located on the southwest corner of the downtown square, was constructed in the 1960’s.
