Donations from across the county are keeping a local TV affiliate on the air.
WSEC/PBS Jacksonville met its fundraising goal of nearly $280,000, despite being financially staggered by the absence of state grants for the past three months.
A stopgap budget was approved in Illinois last month, but WSEC will not be receiving funding until January. WSEC has missed out on $92,000 in state funded revenue over the last fiscal year.
According to a press release, WSEC is still in need of $64,950.
The station is still searching for support in the form of a major donor. A drop in fundraising could result in the loss of programs or on-air hours.
