Downtown Jacksonville will transform into a 9 hole golf course this weekend for the 15th annual Bar 2 Bar Classic.

GoodTime Docs owner Randy Springer, one of the creators of the  event, says Bar 2 Bar is a great day for Jacksonville.

“Some of the bars that are in the Bar 2 Bar say it is their biggest day of the year, even bigger than New Year’s Day. We usually have about 150 teams. There is usually 400-500 other people that come out and have fun with everybody else”

Springer says each bar will construct their own unique putting challenge for Bar 2 Bar participants. Teams of four will putt at each of the nine holes throughout the day.

The money raised from the event will go towards Hobby Horse in Jacksonville. According to Springer, Bar 2 Bar has raised more than $150,000 for local charities.

“We helped open up the homeless shelter and when Jacksonville Main Street got started we helped with them. We have done a lot of good things for local charities.”

The event, which is co-sponsored by A Gaudio & Sons, will run from 11-6 p.m. on Saturday.
