This March, two awards will be given honoring important Ag persons in west central Illinois.

The Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce will be giving these two awards out at their Agribusiness Banquet on March 8th, and we spoke with Chamber President Lisa Musch who explains what these two awards are starting with the Ag Hall of Fame Award.

“We will be awarding our annual Hall of Fame award to an individual or so in the ag industry here in the area who has given time and service to ag in general. It’s been a long standing award, a lot of well-known names have been the recipient of this award and we look forward to being able to do that again,” says Musch.

Musch also explain the other, newer award, the Pioneer of Ag.

“This will be the fourth year of this award. It basically is to recognize an individual who gave a lifetime of service to ag in our area during the 1800s to early 1900s, so these are the true pioneers of ag here in our area. The nominee must have lived in the Jacksonville area during the 1800s to early 1900s, and we look at what they have contributed, ” Musch says.

While the awards won’t be announced until the banquet on March 8th, nominations are required soon. Musch says the Chamber needs to have the forms turned in for nominations by early next week. To get a nomination form, call the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce at 217-245-2174.
