This weekend many of the areas all-time greats are returning to the hardwood one more time. Jacksonville alumni night is happening this Saturday at 4pm. Fans can expect a volleyball game at 4:30, a girls basketball game at 6 and a boys basketball game at 7:30.

Amy Albers, the Executive Director of Jacksonville Public Schools Foundation explains who is all involved this year.

“That day the participants are going to play or perform. We have volleyball, boys and girls basketball, an alumni jazz band, J-ettes, cheerleaders, step team and color guard. A lot of variety of different people participating this year so it should be a really fun evening.” Albers said.

Albers says that all proceeds will go toward the Jacksonville school district.

“Right now this is the celebration of the 150th year for the school district. We are using all the funds going to the Jacksonville school district to help them celebrate. Also the FFA is going to run the concessions, so they will use the proceeds to help benefit their programming also.” said Albers.

Starting in 2015, the JHS alumni game has been a staple for the community. After a hiatus, the foundation wanted to bring back the night.

“We were going to wait a little bit longer but since it’s the 150th anniversary, we decided to do it this year and I’m glad we did. It’s such a fun night were people are able to come out and celebrate Crimsons. We have fans who come out to every game for years and years and years. So it’s neat for them to see some of their favorite players play again.” said Albers.

Fans are excited to see Bob Chipman, who graduated in 1970. Chipman is expected to play in the basketball game that night.
